Help Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers!

The Colorado Seaplane Initiative in cooperation with the Colorado Division of Aeronautics, will be placing “Please Help Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers!”, signs at each public airport in Colorado.

The Seaplane Pilots Association (SPA) and the Colorado Seaplane Initiative (CSI) are very serious about being a part of the Aquatic Hitchhiker solution.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) requires inspections for any vessel that would be placed in the water.  The seaplane is considered a vessel by the US Coast Guard and would therefore need to be inspected.  These signs show pilots where to look on their aircraft to ensure that Aquatic Hitchhikers are not present/attached.

A group of volunteer pilots will be delivering the signs to every public airport in Colorado over the next few weeks.  The signs will be given to the airport manager for placement in a highly visible location on the airport.  The signs are 12″ by 18″ and weight about 2 pounds each.
